SAM Engineering is a manufacturer and distributor of process pumps and spares for the mining, petrochemicals, pulp and paper, water and wastewater, chemical processing, fertiliser, food, sugar processing and automotive industries of sub-Saharan Africa.
At SAM Engineering, we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of corporate social responsibility in our business activities. To meet this commitment we actively seek to maintain the highest level of ethics, adopt appropriate international standards, implement management systems, and strive to incorporate socio economic development and enterprise development into our operations.
Socio Economic Development
SAM Engineering is very aware of its environment and the importance of building a good relationship between the business and its community. Our success is dependent on the success of our community and it is therefore essential for us to make a sustainable difference.
We strive to make a sustainable difference to the community by providing funding to organisations whose activities provide for a range of long-term benefits for the community. In addition, we fund causes that focus on providing support to disadvantaged children and handicapped members of the community. We believe that cash donations alone are not a sufficient means of sustainable support and therefore, we aim to help those who are trying to help themselves.
Projects supported by SAM Engineering include:
- Sibonile School for the Blind
- Thandanani (in support of AIDS and abused orphans)
- Irene homes
- Oliver's House
- Kidz Crisis Centre
- The Good Samaritan
- Support and Care Foundation
- United Cerebral Palsy
- Arthur’s Christian Day Care Centre
Education and Training
We also provide assistance to members of the community who wish to improve their educational levels. This further supports our desire to help those who are willing to help themselves.

Corporate Greening Project
We are very proud to be associated with Willow Feather Farm’s 'Corporate Greening Project'. Trees are a very important to the sustainability of our eco-system, yet their importance is often overlooked when expanding cities uproot them for the sake of office-space or residential property.
The 'Corporate Greening Project' aims to reduce the effects of deforestation through various tree planting initiatives that also assist companies to off-set their carbon emissions. Willow Feather Farm also provides education and awareness to school children on the importance of trees and how they themselves can preserve the environment. We like this idea! In fact, we like it so much we decided to finance the supply and planting of trees. So far, we have assisted with the planting of 730 trees at 16 schools in Pretoria, Thembisa and the East Rand.
Projects supported by S.A.M. Engineering:
- Willow Feather Farm - ‘Corporate Greening Project’
- 16 Schools including the Winnie Mandela Secondary School, Madibatlou Middle School and Phomolong Secondary School
- Lory Park Zoo
SAM Engineering supports the rescue and conservation of animals by assisting organisations that constantly require equipment or financial aid to rescue, home, feed, care and rehabilitate animals. Animals also from an important part of the community, however, organisations that support animals are often sadly overlooked and struggle with funding.
In keeping with our commitment to provide long-term support, one of our focus areas is guide dogs. Through assistance such as ours, not only are these dogs looked after, but through meticulous training, they further assist the blind community.
Another focus of ours is toward the rescue and rehabilitation of injured birds, and we have so far financed the supply and installation of new cages as well as fridges, clothing and have also provided cash donations.
Projects supported by SAM Engineering:
- South African Guide Dogs Association
- Dullstroom Bird of Prey and Rehabilitation Centre
SAM Engineering is currently assisting Luvuno Precision Engineering with capital for equipment and delivery vehicles. We believe that in order to develop small enterprises, our focus should not be directed at growth alone, but also on sustainability. To do this, we provide technical assistance and training on their machining processes to improve efficiency and quality, with the aim of developing them into a supplier for our industry.
Another project we are proud of is our association with Kwanda Media, who we assisted by issuing a grant to purchase software and equipment to boost their IT infrastructure. This was in line with their mission to build the biggest, most efficient and technologically advanced media tracking, evaluation and communications company to promote socio economic transformation.
SAM Engineering also provided Ered’s Trading, a start-up, black-owned construction company, with funding for capital equipment.
